Can there be an option to choose the inline math expression delimiter for MathJax?
Haroo is wonderful! Especially when it supports MathJax.
A little problem for me to use Haroo is it use `$$$` as the inline math expression delimiter, not a single `$` conventionally.
I can understand that there are some reasons to do that.
However, can you supply an option for users to chose `$` or `$$$` as the inline math expression delimiter, because it will be convenient if the users like me will use these markdown file in other places, where `$` denotes the inline math delimiter.
Thanks very much.
Answer
As you already know, the single '$' sign cause some trouble when it is used for currency unit.
Making '$' symbol as literal with back-slash ('\') could be an option for solving this, but not good for ordinary users. If you have some idea, please suggest us.
Either way, we will give an option with consideration.
block
```math
x^2
```
inline
`$x^2$`
I do not think this will improve the existing solution (the triple `$`), which is already very convenient to use if we edit and convert markdown always in Haroo.
Sometimes I need to edit markdown file by Haroo, and then use these files as the input to other converters, like Pandoc, to generate customized HTML for my website. The problem is Pandoc use just a single `$` for the inline math expression in LaTeX. This is also, as far as I know, a convention in scientist community, where people are fund of using LaTeX in markdown and seldom care about the currency unit use of '$'.
So my suggestion is to supply an option for user to switch between the two delimiter: the triple `$`, or the single `$`, for the inline MathJax expression.
Thanks again.
Observation about getting this to work. I was not able to find preference easily as a beginner, as I didn't realise that you need to right click the screen.
The preference menu needs to be accessible from the menu bar. Also it would be handy if there is a "quick preference" section in the menu bar where you can quickly toggle most used settings like math delims.
